As part of the learning agenda for the 2017 ASIS International Seminar & Exhibits event, Groundwork Managing Director, Clay Hendon, joined Dillon Twombly, Dataminr’s Vice President & Head of Corporate Risk Sales, onstage to discuss the use of social media-generated information in corporate security organizations in a session titled, “Social Media Trends and Implications for Corporate Security.”

The well-attended program covered social media trends, advantages, and high-impact examples from Dataminr clients including Groundwork, which provides executive protection designed specifically for ground movements. Over the last two years, Groundwork has leveraged Dataminr software as a key component of its threat monitoring system, allowing it to alert its Mobile Security Specialists to events with potential to impact their current missions.

“Accurate and relevant information is crucial to our ability to secure ground movements for our clients around the world. Dataminr provides fast, credible information about relevant events while they’re unfolding,” notes Hendon. “In security-sensitive situations where time is of the essence, the information we receive from Dataminr and our ability to match it to relevant missions gives us a meaningful advantage in keeping our clients and team members safe.”

Groundwork and Dataminr also released a short video profiling their partnership and one specific incident in which social media information played a key role: last summer’s airport shooting at Dallas Love Field. Watch the video at vimeo.com/238438744
